Is Pediatric Chiropractic Care Safe?

The answer is YES! Pediatric chiropractic care is safe, gentle, and effective. One of the keys to providing safe pediatric chiropractic care is education. Dr. Kati, our dedicated pediatric chiropractor, combines her expertise with specialized training from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association to provide gentle and customized care for your child’s health.

Pediatric Chiropractic Safety Research

Research is an important way for us to learn about safety and effectiveness regarding any medical care. I’m going to discuss two research articles that show that pediatric chiropractic care is safe.

The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) came out with a report showing pediatric chiropractic safety. The paper found 1% of mild reaction to chiropractic therapy. The ACA article is an excellent read for parents who are wondering about chiropractic care for their children. Click here for the link to the report.

The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) came out with surveys completed by chiropractors and pediatric patients’ parents. The survey results found that there were no treatment-associated severe complications. This research article is another excellent read, and here is the link to the report.

These two articles show that there were no severe treatment-associated complications from pediatric chiropractic care. Chiropractic pediatric care is safe. Our St. George chiropractor use a gentle technique to help your child live a healthier and happier life.

What To Expect For Your Child's Chiropractic Visit

When pediatric patients come into our St. George office, their visit is very different from an adult visit. When a child is born, their bones are more cartilaginous, and as they grow, their body deposits more bone. We use low force when assessing and adjusting pediatric patients. The pressure we use is equivalent to the pressure used to check the ripeness of a tomato. There is no “cracking” when infants are getting adjusted.

Education is key to any treatment. We make sure to explain and describe everything that is happening during a visit. Parents/caregivers are a big part of an infant’s well-being, and they are a big part of our treatment. We always ensure that parents and caregivers have the knowledge and confidence to go home and help their children. We are all in this together.

With Dr. Kati’s specialized training from the ICPA, you can trust that your child is in expert hands. Our low-force techniques and dedication to education ensure a positive experience for both children and parents/caregivers.  If your child is in need of chiropractic care, schedule an appointment to optimal their health.
